When rolling two die, the probability changes based on the sum of the two die. This technique is used in the game of Monopoly. It is your job to find the probability of getting each of the different sums of the die. Then, look at the game board for monopoly and determine if the probability landing on each of the properties is the same. So, overall, is this game fair? This game proves to be a little tricky...
This game is not in fact a fair game! The probability of landing on the different properties is not fair as Park Place and Boardwalk are only two dark blue properties whereas there are three bright yellow. In addition, when rolling die, there is a higher probability of getting a sum of seven than any other sum. This is true because there are more ways to add two numbers together on dice to get a sum of seven (1,6;2,5;3,4;4,3;5,2;6,1). When looking at the monopoly game board, if the player rolls a seven every time, as this has the highest probability, the player would theoretically never land on board walk or parkplace.
